| | | | | New In-Game Live Event Introduces Two New Careers to WAR! The war has begun, and you've joined the forces of Order or Destruction, taking up arms with your realm-mates on the field of battle. You've conquered your foes in scenarios, stormed enemy-held keeps, raised your banners over battlefield objectives and banded together to thwart your enemies in public quests. This November, we're bringing you a new challenge in the form of WAR's very first live event: Heavy Metal! The Age of Reckoning is about to get even deadlier as the noble and cunning Knights of the Blazing Sun and the deadly Black Guard join the fight for domination of the Warhammer world. | | Get a head start on the new WAR careers!! | | When the Heavy Metal live event begins on November 17th, players who log into WAR will see a new tab in the Tome of Knowledge. Clicking on this tab will open the Live Events page, where each day we'll place a new daily task. Completing these daily tasks earns influence, just like you'd earn in a public quest. There are rewards for Basic, Advanced and Elite influence, culminating in the ultimate prize: the chance to play WAR's new classes a full week before they're released to the public! This last reward won’t be easy to earn, and players who want to get to the Elite level will need to log in each day and complete on the daily event. We will also be adding a new scenario, Reikland Factory, for Heavy Metal that will only be available to players for the duration of this live event. This scenario will take place in a steam tank factory in the Empire Tier 4 zone of Reikland and see players battling for control of different areas of the factory. This new scenario will be available for players of all levels, on all tiers, but will not contribute to the campaign. Participation in this scenario will give players an extra 10% bonus to their Renown point gain. So sharpen your blades, load your handguns, pray to your gods and feed your Squigs and White Lions. The Knights of the Blazing Sun are a small elite order of Templars devoted to the study and mastery of the science and art of warfare. These fervent followers of Myrmidia value ability and accomplishment over all other factors, including noble birth. It is because of this that the order has grown in prosperity attracting the finest military minds to its banner. A Knight of the Blazing Sun’s primary goal is to obtain perfection in the art of War, as such they travel the old world individually seeking battle both large and small. A warband with a Knight of the Blazing Sun at it’s head is a potent force capable of dealing with opponents with a level of cunning that ensures victory before the battle is even joined.

The mighty Black Guard of Malekith has conquered the Elven lands of Yvresse and Cothique, and now moves rapidly to join in the main invasion. The Black Guard of Naggarond are the favored warriors of the Witch King Malekith, and are given the sacred task of not only serving as his personal bodyguard, but as his heartless enforcers on the field of battle. Those who would become the Black Guard are taken from birth from their mothers. A Black Guard has no family ties to distract them, they are children of hatred and war and are raised from infancy steeped in battle and blood. Each Black Guard has personally sworn an oath of undying devotion at the feet of the Witch King, it is this oath that lights the fires of hatred and scorn deep in their hearts, for no warrior can be greater than the one chosen by Malekith himself.

 The Witching Night approaches in the Warhammer world. During this time, the divisions between the living and the dead grow thin, and the power of Shyish, the Purple Wind of Magic, waxes. Evil cults, witches, and necromancers use this time to their advantage, easily raising the dead and calling upon them to spread wickedness across the land.
In response, citizens of the Old World rise to the occasion, building a festival atmosphere where witches and heretics (both real and imagined) are put to the torch, and where malignant creatures of darkness are hunted down as sport by the brave and foolish.

In it, he discussed the successful launch of the game, announced the return of the Knight of the Blazing Sun and Black Guard, and outlined a host of new upgrades coming soon in our first major patch. As you’ll read, the WAR team has been hard at work addressing your feedback and making sure your experience in the game is the best it can be. After over three years of work and one of the smoothest launches in MMORPG history, WAR is moving quickly towards the end of its first month. This is a perfect time to take a look at where we were, where we are and where we are going. First, on behalf of everyone at Mythic, I would like to thank you for your interest in our game. While it is impossible for me to personally thank all 750K+ worldwide account holders, please know that we are grateful for your support to date and the support we hope you will show us in the future. It’s been a long road to get where we are today but it has been a worthwhile journey. Alan Bligh | | | Khorne World Eaters Terminator Lord Zhufor
 First introduced in Imperial Armour Volume 6, Lord Zhufor is the baleful leader of a World Eaters warband in service of the Blood God Khorne, and this model designed by Simon Egan and Will Hayes brings this character`s hellish savagery to life. This unique and stunning model features extraordinary detail, and is made up of fourteen separate components including both helmeted and bare heads and a banner pole featuring a grisly trophy in the shape of an Imperial Commissar`s impaled carcass. | Ultramarines MKIV Venerable Dreadnought
 A much requested expansion to our Space Marine range is the Ultramarines MKIV Venerable Dreadnought. Designed by Simon Egan and Will Hayes this model is bedecked with chapter specific iconography and battle honours as befits such a veteran lord of the battlefield, and features a particularly impressive banner bearing trophies claimed in conflict against the Tryanid menace. As with our other Dreadnought models, arms must be purchased separately and it is compatible with our range of MK IV Dreadnought Arms which you can see pictured Here. This model is available for pre-order now for release the week commencing the 27th of October. Red Scorpions Rules Update
 With the recent release of the new Space Marine Codex, we thought it was time to dust off the rules for Red Scorpions Commander Culln (as found in Imperial Armour Volume 4, The Aphelion Project) and update this hero of the Imperium. You can find Commander Culln`s updated rules for download Here. Christmas Ordering The Holiday Season is still some time away, but here at Forge World we`ve already had a lot of people asking about our Christmas shipping dates. Last year we had a phenomenally high demand for our models, which resulted in delays for some of our customers in getting their orders in time for Christmas. The best thing to do to avoid potential disappointment is always place your order as soon as possible, and if there is a particular large item (such as a Titan, super heavy tank etc) that you`re after for Christmas, try and get the order with us by the end of November.
| | Ork Nob Warbikes
 New for the greenskin menace are our Ork Nob Warbikes designed by Will Hayes and Mark Bedford. This hybrid resin and plastic set of smoke-belching speed demons contains enough parts to make three Nob Warbikes. Many of the resin parts contained in the set are interchangeable with each other in a suitably Orky kit-bashing fashion and can be combined to make your own individual warbikers. You can find pictures of the Nob Warbikers Here. This model is available for pre-order now for release the week commencing the 27th of October.

"The Frenzy" in Utrecht in the Netherlands is being held on 8th of November, if you'd like to place a reservation for this event, you must do so by the 26th of October. Scale Model World is being held on the 15th and 16th of November at the International Centre in Telford in the UK. If you'd like to place a reservation for this event, you must do so by the 2nd of November. You can place a reservation order with us for either "The Frenzy" or "Scale Model World" events either by giving us a ring or by emailing us at fwreservations@games-workshop.co.uk and clearly marking the event that the reservation is for in the subject line, by the deadline shown for the event.

A NEW WEBSITE APPROACHES
Over the last few weeks and months, rumours have spread that we have been developing a brand new website. Coupled with the recent facelift of the US website and the inescapable decline of content appearing on the UK site, it won't be at all surprising when we say that the rumours are true! It's taken us well over two years of planning and development, but we can now, at last, officially announce that very shortly we will be launching the brand new, state of the art website that should run faster, smoother and be even easier to peruse through. NEW CONTENT You'll be delighted to hear that a vast back catalogue of Hobby Articles will also be present on the new site including articles for Mordor, Dark Elves and, most requested of all, Chaos Daemons/Daemons of Chaos! PRICING UPDATEAs everyone knows costs are going up all over the world, and just like everyone else we are seeing increases in the price of oil, metal, printed materials and transport. Up until now we've absorbed these increases, but the recent and dramatic doubling in the price of tin is simply something we are unable to ignore and therefore some of our prices will be going up too. As from 29th September 2008 we will therefore be increasing the price of all metal models as well as a selection of other items including most of our books and some accessories including paint. The good news is that we do not intend to raise the price of our plastic kits at this time which means Games Workshop's plastic range remains excellent value for money for all hobbyists. This has also encouraged us to accelerate our plans for expanding our plastic kit range even more quickly so keep a look out for new projects in the future.

GAMES DAY REVIEW COMING SOON
We'd like to say a huge 'thank you' to all those who came to this year's Games Day and who helped make this year's event officially the biggest ever held! Over the course of the day our roving photographers captured many thousands of images which they're currently sifting through even now in preparation for this year's Games Day review. Following the success of last year's coverage, we'll also be posting the winners of this year's Golden Demon online for you to have a look at. Once again, the bar has been raised even higher than ever before and the standard is beyond parallel. So, to find out who won this year's Slayer Sword and to see a full review of the big day, check back next week for our first review.
